Over-simplifying is sometimes fun. Conclusions we might draw from the National Journal’s beer preferences vis-a-vis politics graph:
- Bud Light is the great unifier
- high-turnout Democrats don’t drink beer
- light beers are almost exclusively enjoyed by Republicans
- Lone Star appeals to exactly who you think it appeals to
- high schoolers of all political orientations drink Natty Lights in parking lots
- microbrews are for wonky lefty types (Really? C’mon! We see you there, stylish young Republicans in DC/Brooklyn/Portland bars!)
Plot your own beer/civic engagement/politics data! Does it line up? It’s clearly designed for interesting headlines and maximum clickthroughs, but what do you think of this graph?
