plz describe Amanda’s “patented three-color annotating technique” in detail
Happy to oblige!
* Amanda’s Patented Three-Color Annotating Technique *
Primary color (usually black): Important passages to the text—plot, description, foreshadowing. Brackets around clauses and sentences that are less than two lines long, or a vertical line in the margin beside passages that are more than two lines long.
Secondary color (usually blue): Ditto, but for sentences/passages relevant to the particular class for which I’m reading. I’ll usually write out the course, semester, and themes or critical approaches on the inside front cover in the same color. If I reread the same text for a different class, I can use a new color and keep track of the annotations.
Tertiary color (usually pencil): Circling instances of repetition, underlining straight-up pretty phrases for personal reference. Marginalia (ex: lol, :D , !!! , Rochester you ASS).
