Hey, Wonkistan, your dream job just became available: used bookstore sitter wanted in rural Virginia for October and November.
Here’s something we would love to be real: “2012: The Movie.” The casting suggested above really tickles our fancy, but our favorite suggestion has to be Gene Simmons as Muammar al-Qaddhafi.
As we say here on tumblr: free from flaw.
John Darnielle for Poet Laureate

In literature, there is no man more worthy of recognition through the award of U.S. Poet Laureate than John Darnielle.
A petition on whitehouse.gov recommends that President Obama recognize John Darnielle as US Poet Laureate. We’re not telling you to sign, per se, but if you enjoyed The Mountain Goats at Evening of Awesome on Tuesday, you may be interested in helping bring the petition to its goal of 25,000 signatures. Let’s call it “highly recommending.”
(We’re also not guaranteeing that it’ll get a response as epic as the Death Star petition, but hey, it’s worth a shot!)
Via Esquire. Unlike most Christie-Taft comparisons, this is about neither weight nor politics, but it gets our wholehearted endorsement.
